Viet Nam E-Visa – Information, Requirements & Important Travel Information

Plan your application, understand the entry conditions and prepare the documents for your journey.

What is the Viet Nam E-Visa?

Viet Nam E-Visa is an electronic visa issued to eligible foreign travellers for entry into Viet Nam. It may be issued for a single entry or multiple entries, with validity of up to 90 days.

Who can apply?

Applicants must be outside Viet Nam when applying, hold a valid passport or other international travel document and meet the applicable entry conditions. The applicant must not fall within a category prohibited from entering Viet Nam.

Eligibility and official or diplomatic travel

Eligibility is subject to Vietnamese immigration law and the applicable exclusions. Certain official delegations, diplomatic missions, consular offices and international organisations, as well as some family members and staff, follow different procedures. Check the procedure appropriate to your circumstances rather than assuming every official or diplomatic traveller uses the same route.

Available e-Visa types

Single-entry permits one entry within the authorised period. Multiple-entry permits more than one entry within that period. Always follow the number of entries and the conditions printed on your issued e-Visa.

Vietnam eVisa validity and permitted stay

An e-Visa can be valid for a maximum of 90 days. The actual validity is the period stated on the issued document. Your travel and stay must remain within the dates and conditions authorised; the maximum is not a promise that every applicant receives 90 days.

Passport requirements

You need a valid passport or other recognised international travel document. Travel with the document used for your application and the visa and other documents required for entry. Check that your document and personal details match the issued e-Visa.

Application requirements

Provide complete, accurate and truthful information, in English where required. Your passport names and number must be transcribed carefully. Supply every applicable answer when more than one option applies, and explain an “Other” or “Others” selection where requested. Our form lets you save incomplete details, but missing or incorrect information may still need to be completed before the application can be processed.

Required documents

Prepare a portrait photograph and an image of your passport data page. A recent portrait approximately 4 × 6 cm, in JPG/JPEG format under 2 MB, facing forward without a hat or glasses, with appropriate clothing and a white background is recommended. The passport image should show the complete biometric/data page clearly, including every corner. You can continue our form with missing or imperfect images. Flight tickets, hotel bookings, bank statements, criminal records, proof of employment and insurance-policy uploads are not requested in this application.

Application steps and processing

Prepare your passport image and portrait, enter your personal and passport details, choose single or multiple entries, and provide travel, contact and relevant background information. Continue directly to the final payment step. Processing depends on the authorities and the completeness of the application; no fixed decision time or approval outcome is guaranteed. Apply before travelling and check the issued document before departure.

Eligible entry and exit points

Use an entry or exit point authorised for e-Visa holders. The available points are listed below and in the travel section of the form. Confirm your intended crossing and follow the conditions on your issued visa; an e-Visa is not permission to use every border crossing.

Entry requirements

Carry the required travel documents and visa, satisfy the applicable entry conditions and comply with Vietnamese immigration law. Activities in Viet Nam must be compatible with the authorised purpose of entry. Holding an e-Visa does not remove the checks carried out at the border.

Documents during your stay

Be able to present your passport or international travel document and relevant residence documents when requested by competent authorities. Your accommodation may also need these documents to register your temporary residence.

Temporary residence registration

Temporary residence must be declared through the person responsible for managing or operating your accommodation, in accordance with local rules. If you change accommodation or address, the temporary-residence information must be updated where required. This is a travel obligation, not a separate declaration step in our application form.

Requirements for children

Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or authorised person as required by the applicable entry rules. A child under 14 included in the same passport can be entered in the dedicated children section, with their own portrait. If the child has their own passport, complete a separate application for that child.

Important restrictions

Entry may be prohibited where entry conditions are not met, for an unaccompanied child under 14 who does not meet the applicable requirements, or where false documents or false information have been used to obtain entry, exit or residence documents. Other restrictions may apply in the legally specified public-health circumstances, following deportation or a previous requirement to leave Viet Nam within the relevant restricted period, or under epidemic-control or natural-disaster measures. The applicable legal conditions determine each case.

False or incorrect information

Information must be complete, accurate and truthful. False information may lead to refusal. Check passport details, dates, purpose and contact information carefully, and let us know if information already supplied needs correcting.

Activities in Viet Nam

Respect Vietnamese law and local rules. Undertake activities consistent with your authorised purpose of entry and observe restrictions applying to restricted areas. A travel visa should not be treated as permission for activities outside its conditions.

Applying for another visa while in Viet Nam

In circumstances permitted by law, an e-Visa holder already in Viet Nam may be able to apply for a new visa with the relevant invitation or guarantee. This is not an automatic extension of the existing e-Visa and should not be assumed to extend an authorised stay.

Before arrival

Where applicable to your journey, complete the required pre-arrival information or declaration before entering Viet Nam. Check that the passport, travel dates, number of entries and intended crossing match your travel plans and the issued document.

Important travel information

Use the approved e-Visa according to its validity dates, permitted number of entries, authorised purpose, border-crossing conditions and Vietnamese immigration law. Keep your travel and residence documents available throughout your journey.
